The best games for kids

According to the Toy Industry Association, three-quarters of consumers purchased toys last year intended for educational purposes. Was this the result of parents taking an interest in their child's academia or are toy companies knowledgeable about child development? Either way, it is a trend that will benefit kids. Kids need to play, and they know how to pick the best games.

The belief that play is crucial in child development is not new. People, especially educators, are familiar with Jean Piaget. Piaget observed children over a period of time and discovered that their development occurred in stages. He called the idea Stages of Cognitive Development. There are four stages - sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operations and formal operations.

During the sensorimotor stage (birth to 2), infants gain motor skills through experiences, such as looking around and touching objects. By the preoperational stage (2-6), children comprehend symbols and use their imaginations to pretend play. Children at the concrete operations stage (6-12) are capable of completing mental exercises and multi-tasking. The last stage, formal operations (12-adolescence), is when kids are more likely to independently problem solve.

Games that are popular with children tend to incorporate the skills necessary for their proper development. Kids know they need to play and can do so in many ways and at all different stages of life. Luckily, kids today have many options when deciding what games to play. There are PC games, online games, math games and party games.

Kids PC Games

Technological advancements allowed for a new industry to flourish - PC games. With personal computers in schools and homes, PC games are quite popular amongst kids. This type of play is popular with kids because it is interactive and requires movement. The games with imaginative graphics and challenging obstacles appeal to many children. PC games are not only fun for children but also educational. They require kids to strategize, coordinate and recall patterns all of which are valuable skills to learn.

Kids Online Games

Surfing the net has become safer for children with the invention of programs parents and schools can use to restrict access to inappropriate sites. Now, kids can find online games appropriate for themselves to play at home or at school. The popular educational online games are generally played independently. Kids practice language and mathematics problem solving in a visual pleasing environment complete with challenges, adventures and even sound. Online games with pictures, puzzles and animals tend to capture children's imaginations

Kids Math Games

Every kid can do math. Kids may not think they can successfully manipulate numbers, but math is not just about solving equations. Math also encompasses shapes and spatial recognition. Children learn these skills by taking something apart and putting it back together again. Thinking about sequencing and finding the missing link is a motivator for kids. For kids that like numbers, grab a game with money or a game that requires score to be kept. The competitiveness of keeping score is attractive, and money is very popular with kids and adults alike.

Kids Party Games

Parties give kids an opportunity to socialize with friends and play games. Party games are played in groups, and the popular ones consist of rules and competitions. Party games can be outdoors or indoors. Popular outdoor games involve special equipment and running. Indoor games that incorporate passing something around or having the children move around are also popular. A prize at the end of the game is always welcome. Depending upon the age of the child, different levels of competitiveness are more appropriate than others. Young kids do not always handle losing well. Sometimes, it is best to give all children a small token for participation.

Along with Piaget, it appears parents, kids and the toy industry recognizes the benefits of play. Games provide an outlet for play through experimenting, moving, socializing and thinking. They continue to be designed, produced and sold to each upcoming generation for the purposes of fun and education. Games will always be popular with kids.

Online game strategy: Character overview of Gaara of the Desert in Naruto Arena

Sand can be a lethal weapon in the hands of someone like Gaara. He possesses the ability to trap his opponents in a sandy prison and crush them in a fatal finishing blow. Naruto Arena's starting characters are usually underpowered compared to the advanced ones (those which can only be unlocked in later stages) but Gaara of the Desert seems to be an exception to the rule.

The moment a player manages to learn the techniques in using Gaara effectively and put him in a team with no chakra clash, he's sure to climb the player ladder quite easily. When going on a losing streak, he can be a player's comeback character. The reason behind this is Gaara's signature skill: The Desert Graveyard. It has the edge of ultimately defeating one of his opponent's characters in a single turn. Although it's not that easy to pull off because it relies on a preparatory action, there's still a good chance that Gaara users can eliminate opponents as early as possible.

Let us now delve into the specific strategies devoted to Gaara of the Desert by examining his skills and abilities:

Armor of Sand

For 1 random chakra, Gaara creates a sand-based armor which gives him 40 points of destructible defense in a 3-turn duration. This skill has a cooldown of 2 turns.

As early as level 1, your opponents will learn to hate Gaara because of his tough-as-nails exterior. 40 points is nothing to scoff at especially in this case where the skill cost comes really cheap. New players who mistakenly target Gaara in the beginning of their turn are only wasting their efforts because he can use his armor to prolong his stay in the battlefield.

Desert Coffin

For a random and a ninjutsu chakra, Gaara traps an enemy target in a prison of sand. The chosen enemy will be stunned for two turns, unable to turn invulnerable/reduce damage, and also receive 5 damage for every turn that the skill is in effect. In addition, Desert Graveyard may be used on the target. The cooldown of this skill is 2 turns.

The preparatory action to his fatal signature move, Desert Coffin has annoyed many players since the early versions of Naruto Arena. It has undergone a lot of changes over the years, and surprisingly it only got better. Dealing a little bit of damage on the side while stunning, this skill is a nightmare for players who don't have back-up plans. When you set your sight on the opposing team's "superstar", cross your fingers that you receive the necessary chakra to finish him off with Desert Graveyard.

Desert Graveyard

For 2 ninjutsu chakra, Gaara will instantly kill the character currently targeted by Desert Coffin. This skill has no cooldown.

You know it's a good day for Gaara when he can reap the fruits of Desert Coffin by following it up with Desert Graveyard. He deserves an award for giving the newbies in the world of Naruto Arena a chance to defeat high-level players who underestimate starter characters. The key phrase here, of course, is "instantly kill". Sure enough, there are several skills later in the game which can counter Gaara's killer move, but as far as early games are concerned, Gaara's an efficient finisher.

Sand Shield

Gaara is pretty resilient because you can choose between two defensive options. As if his strong defensive armor is not enough, he also has the default invulnerability skill which most starting characters possess. This will help you in dangerous instances (e.g. when blue Ninjutsu chakra becomes elusive when you need it the most).

Being a pure blue Ninjutsu user, Gaara should always be paired off with the physically-oriented green Taijutsu characters, the rare breed of ninjas gifted with red Bloodline abilities, and the enigmatic white Genjutsu illusionists. Knowing the dangers of chakra clash, Gaara should avoid fellow Ninjutsu users at all costs

The Game Player

What is the game player? The game player is one who has made the game their primary focus. They have left reality on the side line and decided to play the game. The game is placed in the for front on their mind. The reality and facts of a situation are ignored as the game continues to be played at the expense of others. There are many people playing the game and ignoring reality. You will find them in all walks of life. There are game players who are husbands, wives, children, bosses, church goers, co workers and employees.

You can always tell when a game is taking place by looking at the facts in any situation. When the facts of reality are being ignored, you can rest assured someone is playing a game. Some people like playing the game or being a game player. When people start to repeat things that are not reality or facts the game is afoot. The main purpose on this kind of activity is to confuse or influence you to take the often wrong course of action. When reality has left the process you must be extremely careful.

Often the game player will have one key statement that will be use to justify their break with reality and facts. The statement may sound very wise to hear but have no substance to it. This type of statement must be examined closely to see if it has any solid principals that can be understood. The reality is that a true game player is often guessing when they make a game player statement. They don’t know what the end will be.

The game allows some people the ability to escape reality and live in a form of their own reality. This game can cause some people to set up their own standards of living. For many, the game provides a coping method to help that allows them to maintain some since of sanity.

Sadly, for some people the game is their life. They have become so out of touch with reality that they don’t even realize the game has captured them. Their total focus has become the game. In essence, the game has become their reality. There are many who are happy to live out their lives this way, but some are unaware that the game has bond them hand and foot.

One of best thing we can do for ourselves is not be capture by the game players web. We must be able to instantly see the game and be careful of its influences. Also be careful of a game player because you can never truly tell what is on their mind. What is their real motivation? Guard yourself with all your might. You are responsible for protecting your own soul.

Best video games ever

Over the years countless videos games have been created. Some are have ground breaking graphics and innovative game play. Others are great, and years after they were created are still played and enjoyed by many people. but which of these earns the title of best video game ever, and what makes it the greatest ever?

Some people will turn to recent video games such as the Halo series or the Call of Duty games. They look at the graphics, game play, expert sotry line, and the sheer fun of the games to argue that these games should be named the greatest game of all time.

Others will turn to the forerunners of gaming, pong pacman and the like. They say without these games todays games wouldn't be, and that is why they should be given the title of greatest game ever.

The game i have picked to be the greatest is an older game that has stood the test of time, and is still played and know by almost everyone. Simple, easy to grasp game play that grows progressively harder gives the casual player enjoyment while, at the same time, giving the hardcore player a challenge they will surely enjoy. One of the few games that i enjoy playing and also does my father and grad parents. A game that no one can say anything bad about because, its simplistic game play, and innovative ideas is nearly flawless. A simple fun to grasp game that everyone can easily enjoy and have a great time playing.

What game could be described by this? None other than the classic.... TETRIS!

Tetrisis easily one of the most fun games ever and appeals to everyone from young to old. It's simple game play makes for an enjoyable experience. Countless spin offs of the original game have been made, adding items or multi player capabilities. It's a game that kids can play with their parents without any awkward moments.

Its been on nearly every system from the early cartriages to the high tech disks we have today.

Its a game that remains just as fun since the day it was made. It provides a challenge, but not one that is to frustratingly hard it makes you want to quit.

All thing said, Tetris is a simple fun game. The game play is easy to grasp and anybody can have a good time playing it. It has been on nearly every system and anybody can say "o ya i know that game". There's nothing bad that can be said about it. A simple innovative game that has survived the test of time. This is why Tetris wins the best game ever award.

How browser games are changing gaming

Browser games are video games that are played from within your web browser and typically don't require any sort of download or only need a small download to fully function. These games are changing the way that games are played and are introducing a whole new gaming revolution.

The Changing Face of Games

While browser game swill not replace traditional video games anytime soon they are already having a massive impact on the way games are being played. Since these games rarely need anything more than a small download they are very appealing and they are usually entirely free except for higher end content which you can pay for if you want. They don't require subscription fees, expensive computer hardware, or extreme amounts of time. The fact that these games are free has mass appeal to people tired of paying monthly fees for traditional online games.

With Facebook and MySpace games you now have games that can reach millions of people worldwide very quickly. The traditional Internet game takes a while to develop a large player base and only very few like World of Warcraft ever reach this status. We have seen this explosion with games such as Farmville on Facebook. While this game is very simple it does show the mass appeal of putting games on social networking sites and how this can potentially make a huge profit for game companies. Un the new year (2010) Sid Meier the maker of the very popular Civilization series with launch Civilization network on Facebook. When big game developers start to see Facebook as a gaming platform changes will begin to take place in this massive industry. Facebook games reach the amount of people that regular game developers can only dream about. Farmville typically has 50 million users each month which is far beyond any traditional web based game.

We have seen companies such as EA launch Battlefield Heroes which is a game played entirely online. Other popular browser bases games include Runescape and Quake Live. As more game developers see the value of browser games we will start to see more developed games that can reach more people and have mass appeal. More browser games are ditching traditional text and going full 3D which is further revolutionizing the medium more games are being released each and everyday and becoming more popular as they get better.

Conclusion

Browser games are slowly gaining speed and becoming a new form of Internet gaming that continues t grow with each new game release. Traditional game companies like EA and others are seeing this gaming change and are putting out new and exciting browser games for players of all ages. Over the coming years these games will continue to grow in popularity and get more advanced in terms of game play.
